Bosque Protector Arutam

Bosque Arutam is a privately family owned ecdological reserve south of Puyo, Ecuador, along Via Macas, in the Province of Pastaza. The Vargas family has established a rustic eco-tourism destination, a small school for the local children and a library for visiting university students. Condor people has been involved with Bosque Arutam for two years and has contributed funding to help build their school house and volunteer quarters. MORE

Morona Eco-Reserve and Education Center

The Morona Eco-Reserve is 500 acres of primary rainforest along the Morona River tributary system and Condor Peoples crown jewel. Seventeen hours by bus and an additional hour by boat to this remote section of forest is near the community of Puerto de San Jose, which sits is at the end of the road in the province of Morona Santiago. Purchased in November of 2006 the only structure on the property is the caretakers hut complete with a traditional garden. We are just beginning to plan our development of the Reserve which will have a school, clinic, visitor center and research facilities. MORE

Ethno-Botanical Parque Omaere

Parque Omaere is in Puyo, Ecuador and is an outstanding model of re-forestation and cultural education. Fundacion Omaere has approximately 1500 species of benificial plants, a nursery, three types of traditional houses and a shaman's hut. There are various trails that go through the parks changing habitats where visitors are given guided tours by students who have been studying with Tesesa Shiki and her staff at Parque Omaere. Eighty percent of their visitors are Ecuadorians learning about their culture and history. MORE

Pumpuentsa

Condor People founder Earl Brown traveled to the heart of the Ecuadorian Amazon to teach English in the Achuar village of Pumpuentsa. This Achuar community sits south of the Pastaza River very near the border with Peru and with about half of their population living in Peru. In Peru the Achuar are struggling with the toxic contamination left by petrolium development and transport while the Achuar of Ecuador have been successful in keeping out oil development from their territory. A large community of about 200 people Pumpuentsa is a community caught between two worlds. MORE
